The design of this 34,655 square foot addition required multiple types of construction and structural analysis. Being constructed adjacent to an existing facility and above an existing tunnel that provides access to the existing basement, the challenges for this project were many. Utilizing a dual framed lateral system, cantilever retaining walls, concrete corbels, and steel to concrete connections this healthcare facility provides Warner Robins with additional surgery, endoscopy and pain management accommodations. Patients are also met with a unique eye-catching canopy at the front entrance that is framed with a structural steel system supported by concrete wall and columns. Additionally, the composite framed second floor system required detailed vibration analysis to allow proper use of vibration sensitive surgery equipment.
